Difference between CENVAT and Central Excise Tax

What is CENVAT and Central Excise Tax? How does Central Excise Tax differ from CENVAT?

CENVAT means Central Value Added Tax. CENVAT credit is a credit in respect of central excise on inputs purchased for the manufacture or duty paid in relation to the manufacture of the final product. Central Excise Tax is levied up on manufacture of excisable goods in India. So Central Excise Tax has to be paid at the time of removal of manufactured products.
